Mount Kelly Cemetery

As a parish cemetery, Mount Kelly Cemetery has served Sacred Heart Parish, Dearborn, founded in 1836, and the surrounding community since 1856.  Located near the Parish, on Cherry Hill Road, Mount Kelly Cemetery is situated on 3.5 acres in a quiet, lovely, tree-lined neighborhood.  Its main purpose is to carry out the sacred functions of burial and care for the resting places of the deceased and thus is a ministry of Sacred Heart Parish.  The Order of Christian Funerals says that “In committing the body to its resting place, the community expresses the hope that, with all those who have gone before marked with the sign of faith, the deceased awaits the glory of the resurrection.  The rite of committal is an expression of the communion that exists between the church on earth and the Church in heaven….”  [OCF, Number 206] 

In May of 2025, two new columbaria were established at Mount Kelly Cemetery offering a beautiful and reverent alternative to full inground burials.

Mount Kelly Cemetery provides a beautiful and tranquil place of respite for those who come to pay their respects and honor those who have gone before in faith.
